At the Asia Power & Electricity Awards 2010 held at Suntec City Singapore on 6 April 2010, PowerSeraya topped other nominees to be the Most Socially Responsible Company of the Year. Its parent company YTL Power also emerged as Asia’s Power Company of the Year.

PowerSeraya came up top to win this award for its commitment in integrating and executing corporate social responsibility in all aspects of its business, while YTL Power was recognised for its progress during the year in terms of its business plan & expansion, financial progression, and contribution to social and people development.

At the dinner ceremony attended by top executives from the power and electricity sector in Asia and other parts of the world, eight awards were given out; namely Power Company of the Year, CEO of the Year, Most Socially Responsible Power Company of the Year, Clean Energy Initiative Excellence, Developer of the Year, Network Reliability Excellence, Smart Grid Initiative and Smart Electricity Government.

Both PowerSeraya and YTL Power were each nominated for three awards. PowerSeraya was nominated for Power Company of the Year, CEO of the Year (Mr John Ng) and Most Socially Responsible Company of the Year. At the same time, YTL Power was nominated for Power Company of the Year, Most Socially Responsible Company of the Year and Clean Energy Initiative Excellence.

These awards, organised by Terrapinn Pte Ltd – the company behind one of the most established power events in Asia over the last 12 years – have been created to honor and generate recognition of the efforts, accomplishments, and positive contributions of companies and individuals to the growth and development of the power and electricity sector in Asia. They aim to improve the benchmark and standards of sound, sustainable and successful power projects in Asia to support the rapid development of the region.
